Microsoft Expression Web

Anyone here used Microsoft Expressions Web? I was given a free copy when I visited Microsoft UK a few months ago and have only just gotten around to installing it and I was actually reasonably impressed.

Having binned Front Page years ago and switched to Dreamweaver, I think Microsoft has done a fairly good job in catching up. The major surprise to me was how Microsoft have embraced Web Standards, which is odd since IE 7 still doesnt.

All the templates are CSS-P based not a table in sight, considering you can buy it for around 80quid on eBay or around 150 retail its even good value of web design is your game.

Jen

I've not used that.

Corey Bryant one of the mods here can help and give advice on Microsoft expressions web, he is an MPV.

I personally still use and prefer frontpage 2003, but use notepad and dreamweaver now and then.

Sorry as some of you knew, I was out on a family emergency. I am a Microsoft MVP for Frontpage - relied on it for years. In the past couple of years, I only relied on Frontpage to "publish" my website.

When Expression Web came out, I was amazed. The code it created was compliant. The site validated completed by the W3. This was a long way from Frontpage Express. Microsoft has come out with a few different programs in the Expression Family. I was at a seminar for it a few months ago and video was fully understandable to me - someone who never used Flash before. One of the things I found very interesting was that you could insert your Google Analytics code into the video, say at every five seconds. Now, you could actually track how long people watched your video.

Expression Web though will have a lot to catch up on in version 2, something which I am really looking forward to. Very Glad to see that someone else likes the program since "Frontpage" left a bad taste in the mouths of most

Do you sell licences? Also, how much is it? I may be interested. I cannot stand dreamweaver, and frontpage 2003 is outdated :P

I don't sell the software actually. I have thought about signing up on Amazon since I am trying to run an Expression Blog. I actually just started doing a contest to give away one license as well.

MS approached me and wanted to know if I wanted to be considered to be an Expression MS MVP and I said yes of course.

Well can you let every one here at focused know about that competition please.

I think it's a good prize :P

Thanks! I posted in the offers section. I thought it would be a nice way to get that blog introduced. Plus I figured I better get rid of the license before 2.0 comes out LOL

They are releasing a 2.0?

So if I don't win your comp, i shouldn't buy it now? stick with the trial for now, and get 2.0?

Well I really don't know when 2.0 will be released actually. We spoke about what we would like in 2.0 at the MVP summit back in March. I am hoping about 18-24 months. This should give them time to really think about everything (properly I hope) before releasing it.

And give us time to check bugs and report them (heck, I am still reporting a few issues with Expression Web). Nothing major but just a pain at times
