Do you care about copyright issues with web content?

I have seen a bunch of grey people selling copyrightes material.

Those sellers even dont have right for their personal use, Still they try to grab money by selling them illgly, Do you guys accept it as it is? Or you sincerely care about the issue?

I am yet to infringe any major/direct copyrights of any other person.

Since I do a lot of writing, yes I care about it and so should any person looking to buy content for their website. If you are buying materials that are copy written by a company then you may end up in court over it. I would be very careful and if you are buying from people you suspect are selling illegally, then I would stop immediately.

People should care, yes - not least because of the possible legal ramifications of stealing someone else's work. Another consideration is that Google frowns upon DMCA violations and can penalise the offending sites. I get around the issue by allowing people to freely copy my content on the understanding they credit the source.

Crediting the source is usually pretty good and might help but I am not sure how search engines might view the duplicate content as a penalty.

I think the people who do it for a living probably care more about it than most

I think it there are many degrees of copyright infringement. Sometimes it falls on the line of being fair use and infringement. Also, sometimes the web owner doesn't mean to violate anyone else's rights and has good intentions, even if they unwittingly infringe on someone else's copyrights. For example, someone may republish an article that they agree with politically to help spread the message, but the article's owner doesn't want that to happen.

I think anyone stealing any type of content online is unfair and immoral - be it content, images etc.. The worst for me would have to be images though, as a web & graphic designer - seeing someone use something you made is really annoying. I guess that's how writers feel about articles.

I don't think stealing is a good thing at all. I think at least you should post the link or the publisher's name

It depends. Sometimes it may be appropriate or legal to publish an image or text without crediting the author or creator. Other times, it might be inappropriate or illegal to publish an image or text even if you credit and link to the creator.

For example, you can't legally or appropriately use warez, even if you credit and post a link to the creator of the stolen software.

In another example, you could post an image or excerpt from a text for fair use (such as to provide criticism of it) for fair use, and are under no obligation to credit the creator or post a link. For example, I might post a quote or excerpt from a scam website to show people what scammers say and do and such, and tell them what's wrong with it, and I wouldn't post a link or name the scam site as to not promote them. That would be fair use, legal, and as far as I know we all would consider it appropriate.

Ofc i care, i don't want to see my content copyed to another site
Better if u are registered mark, they can't copy your content/images/etc.
Why they can't have they own content/images? Why they have to stole?.
A lot of my websites are stoled, and i don't know why, i am a genius insted of 'em ? Why they don't call me Dexter ?

I hope someone will do something with copyright!

this is what pisses me the most. i just can't stand someone who tries to gain money from other's work. the copyright laws are just too incomplete in my country. i saw at tv that windows vista was sold even before bill gates published it. it's such a shame.
but i guess we can't do anything, just sit and watch how our work is being sold on the marked and we won't earn any.

Not many people care these days because nothing happens to them so they keep making money out of someone else. Look on ebay you see 100's of scripts sites and most of them do not even have any rights to even use them !

I do care - yes. I would get some C&D orders going if some one stole my work and designs.

Some people who are small time wouldn't mind, and would think of it as free publicity.

Try stealing Google's design and see how far you get

Well I think google would send a C&D order if some one brought that to their attention. Personally, I think it's great that people are combating the giant monopoly of google.

I have seen many scripts,e-books in bulk and such being sold on ebay that violate copyrights and then there are some that act as resellers for books of authors that don't categorically mention whether you can put a price tag to their e-books while distributing them or do it give it away for free. The copyright for some is still a gray zone , but then personally I do respect the copyrights and prefer to buy from people who fall under the same category.
