Making money

Well I've decided to stop going with proxies etc and decided to make some money - the good old fashion way. Niche sites.

I will basically find niches with roughly 200-300 searches a day and will aim to rank #1 for it. When I hit #1 for 90% of the terms (long tail and short tail) I will move on to another niche. If the rank ever drops, I will just add some fresh content and do some more link building.

I will be using AdSense to monetize these sites, as well as multiple affiliate programs such as:

Commission junction
NeverBlueAds
MaxBounty
ClickBank

This way if AdSense ever suspend me etc, I will have back up revenue streams which will cover me. Vice Versa with the affiliate companies. It is always a good idea to have 5 legs for your table ;).

I will probably outsource the content to some one if I don't have time, if not I will learn a bit about my niche and write my own content relevant to the niche. This way, it keeps the start up costs down and if in future I need to write anything else, I can without additional costs.

I've had 5 sales in 2 days for my new ebook and I'd say it's doing pretty well.

Well this is not a tutorial but I did find that pages were loading slower than they should be.

After some working out I figured out the problem! You see before putting the AdSense code directly into the pages, I used RMX Direct and set AdSense as a default with my eCPM set. This meant that if a user visits and one of my RMX links can pay more for the impression they would show them that ad. Well it's like a bidding system and that is what slowed down the page loads.

Today I replaced the codes directly, and well you can see for your self. It's a LOT faster now. I've also changed the search to customer search and the banners now have different colours to stop ad blindness!

So I was reading through the forums and I found a post by countryboy about a get paid to search site.

From my previous knowledge, they usually don't work and end closing down and not paying. This one looks different and has a solid alexa (14k). It feels safe and my search results come from google directly.

How they get paid - I don't know, but I do know I'm going to get paid.

My main reason for ordering them both were in ear buds and wide frequency ranges.

Both are 6Hz - 23Khz which is higher than most expensive earphones.

I own some Bose Triports which I am selling. I find them to be very annoying as they won't keep a deepfit in my ear meaning I lose the quality.

These earphones would be IDEAL if they were shaped like the Fonetopia series from Sony.

I'm buying two because they are cheap, and sometimes I lose the little buds in the streets. So I can wear the cheapest pair if I know I'm going to the gym etc.

I'm writing this message to you from IE8! It's made my page look a lot nicer, but I've already found bugs :p. The little < > arrows in Adsense are not showing or working, but that's it so far. So it's safe to say JS is not good in IE8.

I tried Firefox 3 on my old computer. I wasn't too happy with that, but I LOVED the drop down feature it had for previous URLs. However, my back and next button kept on taking walks!

Computer broke

So last friday my computer went bang (well the OS went corrupt). The pc just didn't want to start up.

I have had a big heavy duty server sitting next to my computer for a good year or two. I decided to use that. I installed the SCSI drivers and now I have XP on it :)

The server has 2 physical processors. Intel Xeon 3.2Ghz 64-Bit with 2Mb cache. It has 1x 73gb SCSI drive and so far 1Gb ram.

I'm upgrading the ram to 4Gb (If windows lets it) and I'm adding 2x 146gb (if I get the fundings).

I will end up using this as my main computer from now on. :cool:

iPod - what a job!

I think Apple have really made their ipod hard to work, for some atleast :rolleyes:

It took me around 2 hours to figure out that I need to charge my iPod in a USB 2.0 enabled port.

Their iTunes also does not monitor and autoimport tracks from folders, so adding music is a problem. I found a tool called ITUL which will do that, but not automatically. The software is slightly buggy, but it works like a charm.

I have 2 days of music so far, and counting.

I have the 30Gb Classic iPod (big one) and I think it's the latest generation (not sure) and the battery life is terrible. My Cowon d2 had amazing battery life. This iPod needed charging fully twice so far, and the day is not over yet!

Apple do something! :mad:

Well today, I swapped my 10Gb Cowon D2 (touch screen :p) for a 30gb Apple iPod classic (the video one). What a swap! 20Gbs to fiddle with!

So I've been messing around, moving my music from Windows media player and converting it to iTunes. The files decided to covert to AAC and it's taking long!

iTunes took a long while to install, and once it did and everything got imported it lagged my PC for a good half hour. It's only just recovered :D.

If any one has any tips or tricks for the iPod or iTunes please do let me know!

Animal Stak

Got my animal stak a few days ago. Luckily it was the new label, so now I have a Pak and Stak sticker :cool:

The first thing I noticed when I opened stak was that the pills are a lot smaller compared to Pak or M-Stak which was a brilliant plus.

The pills go down a charm and the added arginine from Stak then Pak helps create an immense skin tearing pump. I was stacking it with PlasmaJet on top, and hellooooo veins!

I'm overall happy with my first few days on stak. :D

Upgrades to Focused!

So today I upgraded a lot of the software, and now it's VERY user friendly.

There are new features floating all over the forum, and loads of bug fixes have been made.

The newest feature that I most love is the new member profiles. It has friends, groups, activity etc.
