Blogging and the bloggers rights?

When a blogger posts, is what they are posting legally theirs or can anyone come on the website and take their information?

When someone writes something then they own the copyright to their text, just like a photographer automatically owns the copyright to their own images.*

So in theory a blogger owns the text of their original articles. In practice it's difficult as a hobby blogger to pursue anyone who breaches your copyright, so you tend to accept a few unscrupulous people will rip it. Of course more professional bloggers may have the finances and legal nouse to defend their copyright more agressively.

*Unless there have provided the text/image under some contractual arrangement whereby they surrender their copyright ownership.
