Wordpress Vs Blogger

I want to know the different between Blogger and Wordpress. Is it easier to use Wordpress than Blogger? Which one is more secure? I keep reading in forum's post about Blogger's account being hacked.

Someone asked this on another forum where I participate. Excuse me if I just cut and paste my previous answer:

If you're after free hosted there's really two main choices people go for - Blogger or WordPress. I began with Blogger about 2 years ago and I'm still using it - I like its simplicity (the newest version is a piece of cake). If you're brand new to blogging there's no harm in starting with Blogger to get the feel for it. Another advantage of Blogger is that you can easily integrate AdSense to try and earn a little advertising revenue.

Free hosted WordPress blogs are the other choice people usually go for - they aren't quite as simple as Blogger and you can't use AdSense with them (might be an issue) but they do look more professional and have greater functionality.

Whichever route you choose it's advisable to use your own hosting and domain name once you've got the feel for it. The most popular paidhosting blogs use WordPress. Using your own domain also gives you the advantage of being able to use AdSense and you can easily customise the appearance of your blog by downloading free themes (like skins). It's also quite easy to move your hosting from one provider to the next.

As for security, I'm not aware of any major security flaws in either system. People get 'hacked' due to their own carelessness with passwords and wireless security etc.

I currently use both and they are both easy to use but for a real newbie, I can say Blogger is easier to use based on the reactions of people to whom I introduced blogging for fun. Wordpress, free or hosted, has too many default features that can be overwhelming or confusing for a newbie

Regarding security, it is really the account owner that is responsible for that. A regular change of passwords can add security to any account.

I currently use only Wordpress, because it's easy and there I can place widget-ready themes .. and that makes my earning easier .. And .. no adds ..

Thanks for your answers. I do plan on getting my own domain. Right now, I'll use Blogger for a while.

That's a good plan. I began on Blogger and it's that user-friendly that I still maintain 3 or 4 Blogger blogs.

Blogger is free, can't go wrong!

However, wordpress is better for making money with i'd say. Alot of plugins etc.

Blogger if you want a site without costs, but if your serious about profits etc, or want a good style or you want your blog to show your style, Wordpress hands down!

Well I think Wordpress is a best site for Blogging since we can use many plugins and also it is easy to SEO with Wordpress,

I agree Wordpress is great Blogging System since they have lots addon.

If you want to keep your costs down, blogger is for you. You can create as many sites/blogs as you want. No domain + hosting costs.

Blogger is very dynamic. It allows you to host it yourself using their engine and core for your blog. This also allows you to use your own domain.

The main downside to the blogger system is the lack of plugins and the ability to expand it yourself to meet your own needs.

Flexible to a limit. This is so they are protected from any hacking attempts etc.

Word press is installed on your server, so you can edit the whole thing and it's fully flexible.
