If you're making your first blog I suggest the topic be on something you enjoy. This way you can create blog posts with ease.
Alternatively you can search for key terms E.G: Sport. Then break it down to something like Football. Then even further to something like Manchester United or Glasgow Celtic
The same applies if you're looking to make mega bucks. Find a popular niche E.G: Insurance --> Dental Insurance --> Cheap dental insurance quotes. Then make a blogger blog about it, with the blogname containing your keywords, and if you find it's popular and you are getting traffic + revenue, buy a domain and install wordpress... make a proper site out of it.
This aint hard, you just have to get off your arse and do it! Experiment experiment experiment.
