Proxies just don't seem to work?

Hello all,

I started looking at putting up some proxies of my own, and trialled a few scripts. But whenever I try going to one of the big sites...basically the ones proxies are aimed at like you tube, myspace etc. The functionality is very limited. I keep getting this error whenever I click on a video:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
Now, I'd love to think it was just me, but I've been over a whole heap of sites now, and I get the same from established sites too. Am I missing something? Is it worth setting up proxies anymore or have the big sites coded in measures to defeat them?

If it is worth my while - what script is the best. I have tried PHP proxy and freeproxytemplates with the results above.

Thanks
